New vintage Otto Link tenor mouthpiece

Yesterday, I received the new vintage Otto Link tenor mouthpiece...I ordered it from Ebay. I was totally amazed by the sound I was getting. If you know me, you know that I'm an alto player originally, but decided to double in college. My sound has transformed because of this mouthpiece. I did some reading and found that these mouthpieces were made at the request of other link players who wanted the "vintage" sound of the 40s and 50s. I have a metal link that's a 6* but the hard rubber new vintage is a 7...I much prefer the 7. The 6* has a lot more closed sound, even though the tip opening is relatively close to each other when the two are compared. I have to work a lot harder for a great sound on the metal 6*, even though I still love that piece...It was my 1st link. I will definitely keep both links and I'm giving some serious thought to giving up the Jody Jazz hard rubber. I would recommend going out and getting this piece.

Stuff....

people have been asking when I will put material up.....ASAP is the best I can say. everything is being organized now. I tried to start this blog a year ago and, like many musicians, I got busy with gigs and taking care of a family. It's difficult spinning a dozen plates, but sometimes we have to do it. more to come later
